The Stables - Golden Grove

Project Background

Long-term community planning looking to the future.

Golden Grove is a highly visible and accessible location in Adelaide. It's stark appearance to the surrounding historic buildings formed the major challenges to the design and execution of the project. In 2012 the site was purchased by an international capital management firm who already had presence with several properties in the area with the goal of elevating the space inside and out. The redesign of the building served to invigorate the city block and enhance the entire portion of the city.

The design team worked closely across stakeholders - including the client, and corporate and retail real estate firms to evaluate the property and determine the best repositioning strategy to both serve the community, and attract and retain the best retail tenants. The location of the building in the heart of The Stables Neighbourhood area was only part of the sucess of the project - the methodical and selective approach to the strategy and design was pivotal to achieve the biggest impact.

The redesign focussed on the impact of key areas of the ground level of the building to develop visitor, tenant, and passer-by experience. The lobby in particular underwent a transformation and reconfiguration to create additional leasable space at street level and provide a luxurious and contemporary atmosphere with up-lit white marble walls, porcelain tile floors, and sleek walnut-clad reception.
